- K. Paranthamalingam was graduated from the University of Peradeniya with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree with a Distinction in Orthodontics at the final BDS examination. He completed his Master of Surgery (MS) Degree in Orthodontics from the Post Graduate Institute of Medicine, University of Colombo, Sri Lanka and was successful at the examination for the Membership in orthodontics of the Royal College of surgeons of Edinburgh and was awarded a gold medal at this examination.
- Paranthamalingam was a visiting fellow in Orthodontics at the University of Western Australia, Perth for two years commencing from January 2000. He has been working as a Consultant Orthodontist with the Ministry of Health, Sri Lanka since he returned from Australia to date. He is currently holding the Post of Consultant Orthodontist at the National Dental Hospital (Teaching) Sri Lanka, Ward Place, Sri Lanka. Dr.Paranthamalingam has worked in his own successful part time specialist exclusively orthodontic private practice in Colombo since 2002. Currently he works in two part time practices in Colombo 6 & Colombo 7. In addition, he visits for orthodontic consultations at Nawaloka Hospitals Pvt. Ltd. – Colombo 2, Lanka Hospitals – Colombo-5 and Royal Hospital Pvt. Ltd. – Colombo 6.
- Paranthamalingam is a member of the Board of Studies in Dental Surgery, Post Graduate Institute of Medicine (PGIM), University of Colombo from June 2009 to May 2015 and from June 2018 to date. He is currently the Course Coordinator of the Doctor of Medicine Orthodontics Program conducted by the PGIM, Colombo. He has conducted lectures for the Postgraduate Diploma in Hospital Dental Practice Trainees and the MD in Orthodontics Trainees at the PGIM, Colombo.
- Dr.Paranthamalingam is an active Life member and a Past President of the Sri Lanka Orthodontic Society and the College of Dentistry and Stomatology of Sri Lanka, Past council member & a current Fellow of the World Federation of Orthodontists, a past Executive Committee Member of the Asia Pacific Orthodontic Society, an International Member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the European Orthodontic Society, the Italian Society of Orthodontics and the Indian Orthodontic Society, a Life member of the Sri Lanka Dental Association and a member of the Association of Medical Specialists of Sri Lanka.
- Paranthamalingam regularly attends many continuing education conferences and workshops both locally & overseas to stay abreast with the latest advancements, techniques and procedures in the orthodontic profession, so that they can be implemented into our practice to assure the best possible care to our patients. He is dedicated and committed to his work. He feels that orthodontics is a very rewarding specialty, watching each patient evolve as their confidence and self-esteem grow with their new smile. As no mouth looks exactly the same, orthodontics remains challenging and fun.
- Outside of work, Dr.Paranthamalingam and his wife, Susikala, have three boys, Kavin, Navinan and Navinthan, which keep him busy in his spare time.
